Awareness for the do-it-yourselfer

For Do-It-Yourselfers in this Post-2000 Era...
Because the northeast is full of do-it-yourselfers, it is common practice to find wildlife-loving folk that are interested in habitat restoration and enhancement that have some knowledge regarding food plots and native browse, but want a little more point-in-the-right-direction.  This led biologist and founder of Whitetail Micro-Plotters, Vaughn Perkins, to write and publish Whitetail Gardening.  This book is designed to be a simple, but very informative guide to provide property owners with all the information they need to implement their own plot network while considering other wildlife requirements like native browse and cover.
A detailed look at diverse and successful small-scale food plots, this how-to book includes 84 color photos of everything from seasonal plot progressions, "recipes" for many typical New England landscapes and many photogenic critters that call the plots home.  Whitetail Gardening has proven very valuable in saving countless do-it-yourselfers' unnecessary time, effort and consultation fees when considering plot implementation on their properties.

Fortunately, over the last few years Whiteail Micro-Plotters has helped a diverse enough audience so we've long surpassed our primary goal of including a variety of different folk - from all over the northeast.  Along with Whitetail Micro-Plotters, they've brought habitat awareness to a more inclusive, higher level.  They have shown that regardless of your personal interest (peoples' interests can certainly be extremes of one another's) you can still be "on the same page" with respect to your birds and bees.
In this day and age of urbanism, wildlife and human interactions can be disastrous or enjoyable.  Thinking smaller, micro-scale allows critters more places to roam while offering each a vast assortment of nibbles to potentially call their own.  It helps to connect the dots between the larger pieces of properties and offers wildlife a chance to do what they do naturally... just be wildlife.
